Get your SDI® scuba certification. If you’ve always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, discover new adventures or simply see the wondrous world beneath the waves, this is where it starts. The SDI® Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba course, and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle.

The SDI Open Water Scuba Diver course is an entry-level certification course designed to give you the necessary skills to safely conduct open water dives. Some of the skills you will learn include buoyancy, proper weighting, marine conservation, equipment assembly, proper dive planning, and maintenance. It covers all the basic knowledge about equipment, physiology and the marine environment while training students to perform basic skills underwater. This course is the key to start exploring dive destinations around the globe or just in your backyard.


Q1. Where do I go to get my certification?

  • Atlanta Scuba leads certification trips to Florida on a regular basis.
  • Trips are also scheduled frequently to nearby quarries and lakes. 
  • International trips are available on a regular basis. 
  • If one of Atlanta Scuba and Swim Centers trips won't work we'll give you a referral letter so you can complete the certification on your own trip.

Q2. How do I get started?

Q3. What is involved in becoming a scuba diver?

  • There are three steps to becoming certified:
  1. Home study with a student kit.
  2. Classroom and pool training with Atlanta Scuba
  3. Going on a dive trip and completing four dives over a two day period.

Q4. How long does it take to get certified?

  • Classroom and pool training consists of three - 4 hour sessions.
  • Dive trips can be conducted over a weekend or a full week.
